Claims

Before a claim can proceed, your GP must refer you for further treatment. Please call PruHealth with the following information:

  • Details of your condition, diagnosis and intended treatment, if known. Full name and address of your GP.
  • Full Name and address of your GP.
  • Full names and addresses of both the specialist and the hospital, or clinic, where you'll be seen.


If you are covered for treatment you will be given an authorisation number. This is the number that you give to the hospital or specialist at the time of your treatment. Please note that before seeing your specialist you must contact us. If you go ahead and have any treatment, investigation or consultation without first seeking authorisation, then you do so at your own financial risk.

Please refer to the front of your Membership Card for your dedicated phone number for authorisation.

Please note: The authorisation service is only available Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. After 5pm your call will be answered but authorisation cannot occur.

The member may have a right to compensation if PruHealth or another authority decides that the member has bought cover in which the information provided by PruHealth was incorrect or misleading and resulted in financial loss. Please contact PruHealth's Customer Services Centre on 0800 092 7333 for more information.

If PruHealth is unable to meet its financial obligations in full the policyholder or members may be entitled to help from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. The limit applicable for an eligible claimant is 90% of the claim.
